Queen Cee is at home in her manor

Queen Cee Fall at home in her new Manor

Queen Cee Fall at home in her new Manor

Fall manor’s final stone was layed on this day November 30th, sometime between 900-1500AD.  The queen has spent the day telling all of us where she wanted things moved, and has even managed to have some enchanted trees brought in from another land, and had them planted outside of the manor.  They glow a strange light above each tree and strangely enough, the fireflies came from no where and they gather around each tree, giving them a magic glow.

Now that Fall manor has been placed, the official opening of Hayman isle is in less than 24 hours.  We are glad to have things ready to start building a storyline to inspire one and all.

Long live Queen Cee

Introduction to Azora at Hayman isle

Good day!  We have introduced something we think will enhance our role play even more, Azora is a product you can “buy” or 0L on the docks of Hayman isle.  simply purchase the products and you will be off and running in no time.

There are a few things that are needed to play with the Azora: rest, food and a few other things that can be purchased quite inexpensively to enhance your role play.

Elaisse Inglewood addresses Hayman isle and beyond

Elaisse Inglewood, Tavern and Tales Owner

Elaisse Inglewood, Tavern and Tales Owner

(by Elaisse Inglewood, posted via Hayman isle’s scribe)

“Aye, ’tis good to be warm by the fire after the terrible storm that swept through Hayman isle on November 14th, 2008.  We here at Hayman isle thought the snow would never stop falling, and when it did, we wandered out to find the entire kingdom of Fall was covered in a heavy and quiet blanket of snow and ice.  Some of the village’s strongest men worked to clear the dock in order that the ships could continue in, and thankfully, most of that work is done.

The Tavern and Tales has been fully stocked with foods and drink needed to quench ye thirst and fill ye belly respectively.  I am happy to report I can keep the fire stoked all winter with firewood that was gathered early this fall, thanks to our woodsmith and our blacksmith.  Brave men that have gone to the forest and have risked their lives to provide for our safety and warmth through this winter.

I look forward to seeing all of our locals and even the new traveler to Hayman isle, come in and see me, I would be happy to talk!

* We are still finishing  up what had appeared to be done a few weeks ago!  I must say it is really shaping into a fun canvas for role play.  I can’t wait to get all of our people together, and see more new faces soon.

The wall of shame is a new feature to honor or usual role playing guests.  If ye are interested in interjecting a new character into the mix, just come and play and we will get your photo on the wall. So far we have a doctor, a first night, an assassin, 2 bar wenches a Queen a gypsy and some demons, just to name a few!  Not a bad start I must say.

We have free medieval clothing too at the entry tp spot so that everyone can dress in the times, without spending any linden until they are sure they like it.

Come and see us in world, by clicking here, or ye can always do a search for Cee Fall and find Hayman isle in her picks.  We look forward to seeing ye soon!

Help with role play and character development

Help with role play and character development:

Should you not know about role playing (RP), I hope this short guide can answer some of your questions.

Role playing can seem like hard work, but you can really get into it and have a lot of fun.  Following some of these suggestions will help you have a great time, and hopefully allow others to appreciate you and your rp contributions.

Don’t be afraid of adding too many details.  In role play, even though we are in a 3-D environment you are still creating a painting with your words for you and your fellow rp’s to walk though and enjoy.  The more details, the better off the roleplay will be.

**No one liners.  These do nothing to advance the story and most people do not like them as they do nothing for the roleplay, unless your thread starter says that one liners are okay, always assume if it is not mentioned that one liners are not permitted.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In Second Life, role play is just that, playing the role of a character that may or not be like your real life personality.  (Some people do this as the norm, not being who they are in real life, but for argument’s sake, let’s say that all avatars usually play our RL selves in SL.)

The region you choose to play will set some of the guidelines for you- i.e. the time period, the type of creatures you can be, and/or will encounter.  Beyond that, your roleplay and your character are your choice!

1.  The first thing to remember is that when you RP you should want for all parties to enjoy the exchange.  If at anytime the storyline is moving in a direction that makes a party uncomfortable, the RP should stop, or at least be addressed in IM.  I say IM because it’s best to keep the RP flowing for the rest of the parties involved…

2.  Secondly, spend time in research of the time period of the region you have chosen to RP.  *Research you race of character; should you decide to be for instance a vampire, thief, or be it queen.  This is because perhaps a vampire in  medieval times would act and sound differently than one in modern day.  Then again, maybe he/she would sound exactly the same.  Point being, you will get more out of the RP, and others will too, if you take just a little time to develop your character.

“True” RP usually develops from absolutely no knowledge of the person you are in RP with, however, a good practice is to write up at least a brief character synopsis and put it in your picks. (If you  need help with this, just ask Cee Fall) This can give other players at least a glimpse into the character you are portraying.

3.  In RP you want to be careful to only influence your own actions and not direct the other character(s) on how they will act/react.  It’s not fun for them if you decide their behavior, and it’s actually bad etiquette in RP.  It’s called “god mode”.  Making yourself god of the whole situation, or assuming a perfect character.  Never God-Mode. This is acting like you rule over everyone. People usually find it quite annoying. Let me give you an example.

God-mode:  Cee Fall is looking at Blue Joseph and thinks, “there must be a better way to get his attention,” so she throws the ball at him and hits him right between the eyes, knocking him unconscience.

Non god-mode:  Cee Fall is looking at Blue Joseph and admiring the way that his hair blows softly in the breeze, in an attempt to possibly get his attention, she tosses a ball fly in his direction.

Example #2 gives the Blue Joseph a chance to create his own agenda and his own destiny more than having it decided for him.

——————————————————————————–

Most of all remember that all of us started brand new without a real understanding of how to do this RP thing.  Here are a few more tips to make this transition easier for you.

When your character is performing an action like, pulling out a sword, the way this is shown in SL is typed so that the colon is removed.  Example of how it would normally look:

Cee Fall: pulls out sword.

**Fix this by typing       /me pulls out sword.

Now when you hit enter it will show:

Cee Fall pulls out sword.

(notice the colon is missing)

——————————————————————————–

To turn off the typing sound and animation that SL uses follow these directions:

In your advanced menu select Debug issues> then type play in the text box.  It will auto fill in for you, then make sure to select false in the drop down menu at the bottom.  This will turn off the typing sign.  Simple reverse the steps, or select true if you want to turn the typing sounds and animations  back on after RP has stopped.

Hayman isle’s RP guidelines

Hayman isle Role Play guidelines:

Hayman is a 100% roleplay sim.

**This means that once you walk through the Hayman isle Kingdom gates you must be prepared to be in character- your chosen character**
NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS PERMITTED IN ANY OF THE HAYMAN ISLE SIM. UNDERAGE PLAYERS WILL BE REPORTED TO LINDENS AND EJECTED AND BANNED FROM THE SIM.

NO CHILD AVATARS.  EVERYONE’S CHARACTER IN HAYMAN IS ASSUMED TO BE OF AGE.  BY THIS WE MEAN 18.  BE YOU PEASANT, THIEF OR LORD, YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE IN RL AND IN YOUR RP CHARACTER.  I UNDERSTAND SOME LIKE TO PLAY CHILDREN IN SL, THERE ARE TONS OF PLACES TO DO THIS, JUST NOT HERE PLEASE.
    I.  AVATARS ENTERING HAYMAN ARE EXPECTED TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:

        A.  Hayman is *mostly* a human based population.  I don’t want to limit too much of the character possibilities. There could be vampires, or maybe even a werewolf, but I would assume there would not be aliens in Hayman.  No sci-fi, no robots.  I know this is harsh as I love steampunk.  But for the sake of our story line, let’s keep it in those confines.

    B.  Flying is not permitted by any avatar.  We encourage your exploration and have gone to great lengths to place things all over the entire sim we hope you will discover in time.  We have blocked the mini-map view on purpose!  We encourage you to make your own map as you explore Hayman isle.  Should you create one that you are particularly happy with, please feel free to submit to Cee
Fall and she will post it to the Hayman isle web-page, with full credit given to the avatar that completed the drawing.

     C.  All players should immerse into their role by creating an appearance for their avatar that is in the genre of medieval times.  Appropriate clothing should be chosen, hair, and player accessories to create and maintain the Hayman isle look and feel.

————————–

II.  CLASSES

        A. Nobility sworn to protect the Queen of Hayman.  If you choose to be a character of noble birth, please do be sure to introduce yourself to the queen Cee Fall.  ((upper class))

        B. Middle – Common Birth.  Feel free to interact as you see fit and live it up having not the bars of nobility, nor the supposed labors of lower class.

        C. Lower – Peasants, thieves, bar wenches/men.
————————-

III.  PROFESSIONS

        A.  Nobility, ladys, Lords, warriors and knights
                –upper class
-could find themselves in service to the queen as spy, guard, body guard          etc.  If you have an idea, let the queen know.

        B.  Merchant
                —  Merchants and business owners. Barkeeps, potters, blacksmith(s)
– Can be of any class

        c.  Friar
–We have no church as of now, but any of our free standing buildings can be used if there is such a need.  We do have a lovely pavilion that could hold a wedding…

-upper to middle class

        D.  Miscreant
The drudges of any society, although needed: thieves, prostitutes, beggars, pirates, smugglers.
– lower class

    F.  Peasants, basic land and kingdom workers, stable hands
-lower class

These professions are a very rough guideline and are given to hopefully help in your finding a home and place in Hayman isle.  We of course will have scribes, possibly an escape slave or two, but this will all be off the cuff.

—————————–
1.  If you want to look around and are unsure of what you are doing, please wear the observer tag that is provided for you.  Just find it in your inventory and right click to wear.  When in observer status DO NOT engage in RP.  If you have questions, feel free to IM though!  You are here to learn.

2. Dress in Medieval time period clothing.  (Even if you choose to wear the observer tag, we ask that you choose the free clothing available at the initial tp spot and wear them as not to disturb the others in RP.

3.  When in RP make sure to speak in IM any time you have an out of character comment or question, you CAN use the double brackets to talk out of character or OOC, but try to limit this as much as possible.  It just allows the rp to flow.  An example of this would be:
((I will clarify what I meant is that I wiped blood from my lips after biting you.))

* This should explain a problem quickly without having to stop RP.

4.  We will be setting up DCS soon, so there will be additional features offered at Hayman to enhance your roleplaying.

5.  Be kind!  In RP, fight, capture, be captured all you like but do these things with consideration of the person behind the rp avatar.  It is rp so do try to fight with your words FIRST.

DO NOT get in an argument outside of rp around other avatars.  This is one of the terms for a suspension from Hayman.  If problems and arguments come up try to work them out at the lowest level and in Instand message, if there is a problem that can’t be solved, do feel free to drop the game master, Cee Fall a notecard, or her magistrate Jorge Serapis.

Welcome to Hayman Isle

WELCOME TO HAYMAN ISLE RP REGION
Hayman isle is a RP sim set in the medieval times.  This land is ruled by one queen and plagued w/ thieves, bandits, pirates and other miscreants. Along with the bad side of Hayman, there is a fully functioning society of ladies and lords, peasants, Knights and even magicians.

A tavern and market are in the center of town, there is a blacksmith to refinish any of your metal wares and you can find the stables usually have room for your horses. If there isn’t room for the horses to be kept, you still may ride them around the countryside (Hayman is a no fly Sim).  Just remember that if you are out for a stroll, you must keep your eyes open at all times, there are those that wish you harm.  It is rumored the ones wishing harm often band together and stay outside of the Queen’s jurisdiction.  Understand that if you are caught and taken outside of the castle gates, it will be a lot harder for anyone to rescue you.  Not impossible mind you, but your voice may not be heard by anyone..ever again!

The countryside is beautiful and is ruled by a fair and loyal Queen.  *Beware justice is SWIFT at Hayman.  Should you wish to take matters in your own hands and make a living in a less than honorable way, that is your choice, but if you are caught, the Queen and her loyal men and women will make you pay…

Keep our landmark and visit as often as you like!
Long live the Queen!
